The Deefax Football Story has taken many twists and turns over the years!
At first, the plan was to create a YouTube channel reviewing every Premier League season from 1992-93 onwards. I wanted to draw footballers and use the pictures in the videos, but I quickly realised I couldn’t draw.
I deleted my illustration of the Premier League’s first goalscorer, Brian Deane, and made a mock Ceefax/Teletext-style videprinter graphic instead. The graphic looked significantly better than the drawing, so I ditched the original idea and decided to tell classic football stories another way.
I spent several months writing a football quiz book and creating a range of nostalgic football canvases. Now my main focus is the “Story of” YouTube channel, a biographical series revolving around English football between 1992 and 2012.
